At Last, A Blog Post (and a giveaway!)

Due to new works in the studio...
...my blogging/tweeting/facebooking has pretty much fallen apart. You know how it is!

I’ve requested that Franny and Lou form a blue-ribbon panel to investigate my drop in blogging productivity. They set to work right away. Lou tried to find a reason buried under this big pile of bubble wrap:
He was sure there was something there, but he just couldn't put his paws on it. Franny was still suspicious and stared me down a few times trying to get me to talk. It almost worked (just look at those eyes!).
They kept looking around in every corner. Nothing in this one either...
They did spot a fresh coat of paint in my studio space...
...and this cute little tree...
...but Franny and Lou said the rest of their findings won’t be forthcoming until hibernation season is over — following groundhog day. Silly kitties!
Luckily, our cousin in Ireland’s dog has offered to fill in
as the provisional authority. He’s barked some orders at me to thank you all for sticking with me through this quiet time and insisted that i spread some holiday cheer by randomly selecting two people to win a dessert role or charm pack of Honey Honey. Please leave a comment that includes your favorite winter holiday story, movie or tv special. My favorite story would have to be The Snowman by Raymond Briggs. I loved those beautiful, ethereal illustrations. But then again, i also loved the tv show Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town — the one with the winter warlock and scarfed penguin! Anyway, please have your entries in by midnight this Friday, December 14th and winners will be announced on Saturday morning.

Cheers!

  23. So glad you're back! I had been wondering and figured you probably had alot of work to do. My favorite, even though I'm grown up, is Charlie Brown's Christmas. What I really want to know is what is in the first picture at the top? Is it next year's Christmas line or something for this year that I should scoot out and find?

  24. Growing up in the days before VCRs, etc., I always looked forward to the month of December because that's when all the great Christmas movies came on and that's the only time you ever got to see them. As a little girl I loved any movies that had singing and dancing. and White Christmas had it all. To this day, its still my favorite movie of all time.

  37. I love the Charlie Brown Christmas special, and play the soundtrack in my sewing room all through the month of December. There is also a short story by Truman Capote called (I think) A Christmas Memory, and it is a gem. I used to read it aloud to my high school students the day before our break, and often couldn't read the ending for crying. Several students read the ending for me it while I composed myself. Thanks for the chance to win some great fabric!

  38. Not really a Christmas show, but always feels that way to me! When I was a kid, the BBC made an adaptation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which I made my OH buy on DVD a couple of years ago. Maybe it's the snow and the fur coats.

I finally finished my brother's duvet cover our of Fandango that I started almost a year ago...and if my mom ever takes pictures of it for me (since I finished it after I was already supposed to be on the way to the airport), I'll be posting about it on my blog. 59. There are so many wonderful Christmas stories and I loved reading the diversity in comments here. Each year, my husband and I find a children's book that focuses on a special meaning for Christmas - some religious-based and some more about the spirit of giving - to send to our siblings' families. This year's choice is _The Carpenter's Gift_ by David Rubel. It is a truly amazing story. But fair warning - it made me cry right there in the bookstore as we read it!

  149. One of my favorite Christmas stories is, The Polar Express. I still remember when my 3rd grade teacher read it to our class to see if we wanted to vote for it for the Caldecott medal. We sat spellbound as she read and as she slowly turned the pages for us to see the illustrations. Then when the story was over she asked us who wanted to vote for it and everyone in the class raised their hands high. It was magical.
