Winners!

So many thanks for your help and terrific ideas for the name of my next Christmas/winter holiday fabric line for Moda! There were many fun ideas despite the fact that i really didn't give you much to go on (sorry about that). I was even tickled to see that some of you thought of the name I had in mind too! I'll tell you all about it when the time comes. For now, the printouts have been collated by colorway and all the art has been sent off to Moda to begin the journey from paper to fabric. Exciting!

Our six randomly selected winners of In From the Cold are:

Yule Tide

Invierno, Enchanted, Yuletide? I am not very creative and can't wait to see what you call it!

Would love to be the owner of some of your lovely scraps. Thoughts for a name would include Star Bright or Crisp or Fresh Frost

Frost. Thinks for chance to win

Well it's definitely cold down here in Australia.. I've got my fire blazing and I'm STILL freezing! Time to pop my jammies on and hop into a nice warm bed to catch up on some blog reading ;) I love the Winter Solstice suggestion, or perhaps something like Whimsical Winter, Winter Blaze, Snuggle Up... Either way, I can't wait to see it! :)

I love your collections. How about "Snowy Evening" from Robert Frost's poem, Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening. Can't wait to it as I'm sure it is lovely.

Congratulations everyone! Please email me your mailing address — info (at) katespain (dot) com — and we'll get Santa to load his sleigh and make an early delivery.
Merry Summer!

PS: the tutorial for the cute In from the Cold table runner was posted late last week. Here's the link in case you missed it!

B r r r . . .

Is it me or is it getting cold out there?? If you live in the southern hemisphere, you may be getting your winter boots out...while the rest of us put our flip flops on. But whether you're sipping hot tea or iced tea, you must be gearing up for some Christmas in July sewing, right?! Just in the (St.) Nick of time, my newest holiday fabric collection, In from the Cold, is starting to ship! Here's a look at the color range:
If you have any Joy scraps in your stash, this collection will coordinate with it perfectly. And if you're looking for some holiday sewing projects to get started on, here are a few ideas.
I designed this quilt as a free project that you can download here. It has lots of steps, but think of it as a block-or-two-of-the-month and you can easily finish it by Christmas. You can also order a kit —including a printed version of the pattern — from Fat Quarter Shop.
We've also seen some fun projects popping up on the Moda Cutting Table recently. Tammy at Moda made the mugs even cuter by making mini versions of them.
She created tutorials for making this sweet gift bag ...
... and festive placemat ...
... as well as this table runner (i hope a tutorial will be posted for this too. If it is, i'll be sure to link it up). **Update** here's the tutorial for the table runner!
So we thought it would be a perfect time to give some fabric away to get you started on your holiday sewing! We'll be divvying up this giant pile and sending packages off to 6 lucky winners.
To enter, here's the thing. I have finished designing next year's wintery collection and have a possible name for it in mind, but i'm just not 100% sure about it. *hint** it's less whimsical than the last two collections, and a little more "pretty" and  "wintery". All you have to do is leave a comment with a suggested name (one entry per person, please). Put your thinking hat, mittens and scarves on and get creative! Winners will be announced next Monday the 24th.

Catching Up...

So let's pretend i'm all caught up with telling you about all sorts of colorful things that have been going on around here...about the garden we have been planting, the canopy of leaves that have filled in, the new fabric collection i've been working on, how exciting Surtex was this year, how much spackling and painting we've been doing, how much i missed going to Quilt Market, how we've moved 7 yards of dirt from one side of the back yard to the other (but the tomatoes are finally in the ground!), the new rug collection i've been designing, the warm and beautiful evening skies, and of course all the antics that go on here every day with Franny and Lou. Whew, almost caught up...

...just one more thing...

Pretend it's last Sunday and i'm letting you know that my dear friend Alyce of Blossom Heart Quilts has put together a really really fun month-long blog hop with prizes, link-ups and interviews! She has really outdone herself and i can't really put to words just how incredibly honored i am to be a part of this. Thank you sooo much to all of the bloggers and sponsors who have generously given their time and talents to participate and have even provided prizes along the way! Hope you'll catch up and join us!
