I'm a little late to post about this. Have you already seen these goodies at Michaels craft stores? If not, you might be able to catch the last wave of these cute journals, notebooks, pens, emery boards, and list pads that feature some of my designs from Terrain!
Pete and i finally got to take a field trip to the Michaels store just over the border in NY. We have been meaning to get there for some time now because it's always fun to see how each store displays things a little differently and in varying locations within the store. So we set off to find the tower baskets. Up and down the aisles...back and forth...until we spotted...???
We couldn't believe our eyes! Actually, still can't. This was quite a humbling moment for me — to say the least. Mary Engelbreit is someone who i have admired for so long. It's hard to remember a time when i didn't know of her through her art. I've owned mugs, calendars, tote bags and books with her illustrations on/in them and still miss her cute-filled and infinitely inspiring magazine, Home Companion. You too? Thankfully she has a blog and a Facebook page that i "like" — along with over 16,000 other fans! My deep appreciation and respect for Ms. Engelbreit is not only for her talents and work, but also that she was one of the pioneers in the art licensing industry. She used her magic markers and pencils to help color the way for the rest of us. I think she must have a set of real magic magic markers; wow, can she ever draw! Thank you to the Queen of Cute!
Here's a little Saturday fur.
Hope you're enjoying the weekend!
Whoa, almost forgot to let you know that Kristine over at the Interweave Quilting Daily blog would like to know what you love about summer. Head on over and let her know and you could win a roll of Seascapes by Deb Strain (love her!!) or maybe a roll of Cuzco! Good luck :)
Ok, that's all (for now).

I was excited to see all the Kate Spain stuff on my last visit to Michaels. Of course I had to purchase everything that matched the purse I made using Terrain fabric.
ReplyDeleteWish we had Michaels/joAnns in the UK!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great moment! I am overdue for a trip to Micheals. :) I love the time lapse video-- thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!! So proud of you and your new claim to fame. I will go to Michaels this week and check out the journals..
ReplyDeleteI ran right out to pick up the lovely stuff. Thanks for the heads up. Wish I had gotten there sooner, not much left, but I got what I could. I just may have to hit another Michael's! I've been a Mary Engelbreit fan forever. I'm from St. Louis also. I have two daughters who like to draw. When they get discouraged that a drawing isn't coming out right, I remind them that Mary had to practice her drawing too. Also showed the journals and pens to my local quilt shop owner. Guess where she's going tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteWow! U r a start and an inspiration! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteGotta go to Michaels. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, I see a trip to Michaels in my future - I bought a whole pile of KS items the last time they were in the store, but I need more!! And those kitties look very happy in their new home....
ReplyDeleteYou & Pete are so cute in that picture!! Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteSummer? What's that? We had about 10 days total over 70 degrees so far. I have a little (hoarded) stash of goodies for blog giveaways and I've set aside some charms to match!
ReplyDeleteWhat Karamat said! I have been to a Michaels exactly once, and that was for the express purpose of finding something Kate Spain! Sadly, unsuccessful, but will try again now that we are back in civilization :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kate
ReplyDeleteIt was too big to see!!! Congratulations! Haven't found your stationery in Oz yet but surprisingly came across Lila Ashbury in a newsagents store. So I never know where goodies may turn up - will let you know.
Thanks for the giveaway hint.
Sadly here in germany I can only enjoy your pictures and not buy this stuff:-( But I love your cat pics everytime there're on your blog! Hildy
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing - congrats! Love Mary Englebreit!

DeleteThat's awesome Kate - Congratulations!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have these! I was so excited to find them and told my sister that they were from your fabric line! I snatched up quite a few of them.
ReplyDeleteI think this is my first time to check out your blog (why didn't I think of it before??...no clue!), but so fun to see this post about your artwork at Michaels: I've got several prints of your terrain fabric(LOVE the main print on the notebook on the left!!!) and I almost had a heart attack while I was standing in line at Michael's a couple of weeks ago when I saw those prints in the notebooks and stationary and pens! Needless to say, a trip that was only going to cost me a few dollars turned into a close to $30. trip :-D Had to get coordinating sets for friends, didn't I? I so love your artwork, and the color pallets that you use! Keep up the lovely work: we who aren't artists love to work in the wonderful fabric that has your art on it!! Have a great week, and I'll be visiting you more often now that I have found you :-P. Helen from Healdsburg, Ca
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I may have just gasped and scared my pet birds ;-) I will definitely be going to Michael's tomorrow! Congrats, this is too awesome!
