Mystery Hop Stop

Welcome hoppers! Today is my day of the
and i just wanted to take a minute to thank Kimberly Jolly and the crew at Fat Quarter Shop for all the work they do not only to keep customers happy, but also in helping us designers connect with you in new and fun ways...like this!

By now you've probably gotten the hang of how this works, so after lots of rummaging around in my closet — which i admit sent me speeding off to Target® for some closet organizer bins—here is my "Vintage Modern" item:
In case you are new to the blog hop, what you'll need to do is look long and hard at that image above and try to guess what it is. You have only 24 hours to leave one guess in the comment area of this post. Whoever guesses correctly will then be entered to win this lovely little Good Fortune layer cake compliments of Fat Quarter Shop (thank you thank you!):

To help you out a teenie bit, here is a clue...
This item is older than i am.
It was bought here:

This won the Grammy for song of the year,
and this won the Oscar for best picture:

This item will never wrinkle because of what it's made out of, and you'll never need a belt to hold it/them up. Now it's up to you...put your thinking cap on and let the guessing begin!

If you'd like to sign up for the Block of the Month Club featuring Bonnie and Camille's beautiful Vintage Modern fabric collection, you can do so here.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. The mystery continues tomorrow over at Sandy's blog so be sure to visit her too. Good luck everyone!

  3. Wow, this one's tough too. I was going to say a scarf but then your comment about not needing a belt makes me think pants of some sort (maybe lounging pants....of course, if they date back to the 60's I guess they could just be "wearing" pants ;>) And yes, probably polyester ;>)

I suppose you will share the story about where and when and who first bought this item?

I am sewing with Good Fortune now so could put this layer cake to goog use.

    ReplyDelete
  34. GET OUT! You did not have a pair of pants looking like these! However this would have been high end back then because it looks like fine polyester and the regular stuff was so thick. You were rockin it in the polyester pants!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Well I'm not a child of the 60's myself so I was going to call it a "jumper," but a quick Google search tells me it's called a "jumpsuit" or "pantdress." Groovy, man.

  75. I'm going to say polyester (no wrinkles), elastic-waist (no belt) skirt. Thanks for this chance!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Is it an overall dress? You have had that a long time!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm thinking jumpsuit with bell bottoms. It's kinda sad that what is vintage to you is what I wore growing up. The last comment made me laugh. I don't remember any decent clothing in the 60's! We were all flower children, grubbier than heck, competing for the shortest, loudest, wildiest outfits we could find. As long as they don't bring back polyester leisure suits and men's polyesters shirts!

    ReplyDelete
  78. A sarong to wear on holiday maybe? Made from a poly fibre so it won't crush in your case?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Well, given that it is older than you...it is either polyester or rayon, and since it is from Henri Bendel, it is a hobo style bag, or a halter top. I pick halter top!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I think maybe it's a bathing suit-for a nice vacation in a beacht type of place

    ReplyDelete
  85. I would have to guess a polyester jumpsuit.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  95. I think it is a swimsuit of some kind.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Hi Kate,
I'm guessing a polyester jumpsuit with wide bell-bottom pantlegs, and perhaps a halter-top? (or a turtleneck top with the scooped-out armholes)-very Charlie's Angels! That would be SASSY! Henri Bendel...has to be stylin' is all I say. Really like the print, though--inspiration for another collection! (it really is Vintage Modern!)

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm guessing legging sort of pants...the stretchy kind, you know, that stick to your legs like white on rice. :D Love the print

    ReplyDelete
  110. I'd say it's either polyester bell-bottoms or a jumpsuit. Nice asian print.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I wish I could get this right, but to me it looks like it might be a bathing suit.

    ReplyDelete
  112. A polyester sundress? The colors are amazing and will never fade LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  113. I think it's a polyester mini-skirt with a bib and ties that crossed in the back. I had one in a similar print and I loved it. Wow, that brings back memories!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Polyester mumu (one of those house dress thingies). Thanks for the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Oh my, this is hard! I would say hip huggers, either pants or shorts, because of the "no belt" comment you made....but then it almost looks like you can see a tie in the picture. So some short of pant or shorts made of polyester or knit.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Oh my goodness! This is tough! I love the fabric on your item, but this is hard to guess! It must be made of polyester because it doesn't wrinkle. Hmmm...a polyester skirt, perhaps a wrap around skirt? Thank you for the chance!
