With the { i'm not really ready to admit it } winter months coming up, i thought it might be nice to give Franny and Lou an early Christmas present. Or i should say another early present. You know, some kitty-sized, warm and extremely cushie oasis to curl up in for a cozy nap. Well, the more searching i did online for a simple "cat bed", the more i wished they made these things in people sizes!
There is every style imaginable including modern...
designer trendy...
Eames-ish chic...
eco-luxe...
recycled...
up-cycled...
clever...
...and so creative!
yes, that's an old computer monitor |
And then there's the one i picked. This style-less, simple, in-our-price-range, super soft, and super blah thing showed up on our door the other day. It's ok, because i have some plans for it *wink*
I ripped open the box, fluffed up the new cat hideaway, put it in my studio and imagined that in any minute Franny or Lou would dart in to discover their dreamy new bed. Annnny minute. Anyminutenow.
Instead (i should have known), they discovered the box it came in and hopped right in!
First Lou...
they're nothing more relaxing than seeing kittens totally cashed out! Love furry fridays!
ReplyDeleteI had seen the suitcase beds earlier and wondered if my wee papillon would like that! She is under my feet all the time so the handle would be nice!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your Furry Fridays! That one that looks like a bamboo coffee table/hammock reminds me of when I used to have a large room size quilt frame. I gave up on it for a couple of reasons, but the main reason that while you and I would see a quilt frame - our cats saw a cat hammock. There were always large cat size dents in the quilt I was working on, not to mention all the hair. See you soon!
ReplyDeleteboxes are very interesting of course ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see they've accepted their new bed, too.
As for some of the ideas, I think suitcase might be the right direction - my sister's cat always finds her way to an open suitcase ;)
Well it looks like you made the right choice although I hope you kept the box for playtime. I have a friend who spent a fortune a cat gym and her cats won't go near it.
ReplyDeleteThose are some really interesting cat beds! Wow!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of your cuties snuggled up together.
Awww, too cute.
ReplyDeleteHahaha -- that's toooo cute! I bought a cat bed for our cats once -- they turned their noses up and it ended up at goodwill. Your bed looks much more roomy though. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey are just so adorable, I know my cat would never stay in cat bed but he is pretty inventive in finding a comfortable place near me. I just love Fridays to get my Awww, they look so cute together. I think it is great to get two cats at same time then they don't get lonely and have so much fun. Thanks Sandra
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the pics of your cats on Friday - I miss having them, but my daughter is very allergic so no cats for us! So I really enjoy yours vicariously - they look like they are lots of fun!!
ReplyDeleteOMG, what a GREAT post. I love your cats. Ever since the Moda blog hop, I've been following you, not because of your design talents, (which are great, I did make a baby quilt with one of your fabric lines) but I love your Furry Friday's. :-) Keepem comin.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!! It looks like you picked the perfect cozy hideaway for them.
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling there was something special to be done with old monitors, that is just amazing. Your furry children know what they like though. My feathered darling has a nest made of a smaller version of Franny and Lou's and we got the bigggest shock to find out the real orientation of our once male is in fact a she, due to the appearance of... eggs!!! Hope you weekend is fun and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the laugh. My cat has a bag full of cute toys that I get a kick out of but she ignores.
ReplyDeleteJust like kids -- they'd rather play with the box. I once bought a great toy fish, thinking our cats would LOVE it! They looked at me as if I were nuts. I finally stuck it on my husband's head because someone had to get in the darned thing.
ReplyDeleteLol, very sweet! My cat likes to sit in my computer chair whenever she can and I have to be careful I don't sit on her as she blends so well with the cushion on it.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Robyn
So glad they made their way from the box to the bed. Awwww... so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWhen we bought our cats a bed, we only bought one because they always slept together. They spent 24 hours trying to kill each other over it, so we bought a second. As soon as they saw two beds they promptly curled up together in the first bed and went to sleep.
ReplyDeleteThey are SO CUTE!! I can't stand it!
ReplyDeleteI too have been thinking about getting a bed for our little Stitch but he seems perfectly content to sleep either on my four year old's bed or my sewing chair. Of course it is real fun cleaning off my chair before I use it, NOT! It is pretty cute though to go tuck our two babies into bed together!
ReplyDeleteI do love the under the coffee table model... but yes... cats will choose their own favourite spot. I'm afraid to buy dearer beds in case she doesn't use it.
ReplyDeleteOh those are just awesome ~ well most of them are anyway. That glass coffee table with the kitty hammock underneath is something my cat would just love. What's funny is that cat in those two pictures is identical to my Ragdoll Blue Mitted cat.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your cats. Yup! That's exactly what mine would do too. Those boxes are just too inviting you know. Ask any child who just opened up their Christmas gift in the big box. LOL Just like the kids who want the box more than the toy are almost any cat I've ever had. Your cats are too funny though how they're all piled into the new bed you got them.
Very sweet kitties you have! Glad they actually decided to sleep in their new bed! Those choices were pretty wild.
ReplyDeleteyup - for my cat boxes>beds too!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Some of those beds are amazing...but it looks like you chose the perfect one for Franny and Lou! My two younger yorkies have gone through so many beds, they think they are toys. I've purchased inexpensive ones and pricey ones. All to no avail! Perhaps all they are needing is a nice, sturdy cardboard box. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos! I love the hammock/coffee table cat bed. I have a Balinese that would love to be on display while simultaneously out of reach.
ReplyDeleteWhen I had cats, they chose the box or bag every time, LOL. But oh, that last picture. I'll head for bed with a smile on my face and in my heart. Thanks for sharing. Hugs...
ReplyDeleteThis was a great post. Thanks for sharing!
